I think the carb is the source of at least some of your running problems. I have seen a few videos where they get rid of the carb all together and put a manifold with two valves on it, one to the wood gas and one to air with air filter on it like a normal lawn mower or universal motorcycle style. You get the gas going and give the engine a small squirt of carb cleaner to fire up then adjust the amount of fresh air vs wood gas using the valves. I'm sure it will take awhile of fiddling to get the ratio correct but in theory once you set it once you can leave it there.

I was hoping you might be able to help me out. I am obviously new to this, and my 40 watt unit just arrived. I am going to add the laser crosshair to mine, but two things I do not understand. First, will this work with the rotary device installed? And two, What do you do if you put the 1.6 watt unit in place? You lose the crosshair ability?

Definite success and certainly refining required. This is more of a stab in the dark but the generator is petrol? is it not? I wonder if a spark tester would get the right fuel / air mixture. I know when I rode a bike I used a Gunson Colortune 10mm Spark Plug Fuel Mixture Setting Motorbike Motorcycle for fuel tuning. Not the standard spark tester, for electric's. The flame colour in the chamber indicates rich or deficit in fuel/air. Don't know if it'll work with other types of fuels but worth a look. I am looking forward to see how this develops. Good luck chap Oh BTW ... line the rocket fire pit with fiberglass matting so you don't lose so much heat into the ground.... just a thought for when the prototype is working with fewer glitches

Beautiful, congrats from Argentina. I am seeing much water on your filters that means that the copper serpertine should be working better. I would put it in a bucket with a circulation of water. This could cold enough the gases. Also I think you need more oxigen in the mixture. You could ad a T just before the carburator, and in the opening a faucet to regulate the amount of air that is entering the motor. We will be waiting for the upgrades. I never made a gasifier but i have years dreaming about it.

I'm building a 420mm x 420mm machine using an expansion kit i bought for $60 on Amazon and with a few 2020 aluminum extrusion rails i built a gantry . I did plan on using the controller from the diode laser ( hope it works ) and i have all the movements , XYZ ! If this works out i may purchase a few more of those kits and cnc routers ! What do you think ?

I wonder how long that engine will last. How often the Oil needs to be changed. Maybe it is better to use solar panels and some batteries. I use firewood the only source for heating and hot water, and propane stove in kitchen and it takes very little electricity for everything else. I dont have an air conditioner, but If I had one then usually it is used in sunny days during daylight, where solar panels would be great for this applications.
